Goree (“Slave Island”), off the coast of Senegal West Africa – Baby Demian Alge bawls while nanny Agnes Sagna washes her 3 year old son Esteban – 1993. Goree Island was developed as a centre of the slave trade. An estimated 20 million Africans passed through this slave-holding warehouse between 1500 and the mid 1800’s before being shipped to the New World. Goree would have been their last view of their homeland.
