As well as being a well-known face on the Melbourne music scene David is also a man seldom without his camera. Walking the dog, travelling to a gig, out and about at sunset, even battling the rain, he’s always alive to the picture possibilities that surround him . His photographs show the value of an observant eye – and he’s always ready to wait for the exact moment when the elements all come together. He insists that he’s just taking pictures of what he sees, never setting up a shot – but it’s remarkable just how often the birds arrive at the right moment, the sun dips to the horizon and the shadow looks just right to create a stunning image.
CAUGHT IN LIGHT is David Wayman’s third exhibition at MAGNET and promises to be just as well-received as its predecessors. This time it also includes a small sub-set of photographs by his photographer son TOM WAYMAN.
Opening Wednesday 1 February (6.30-8.30pm)
