Argentinian-born Elian Sellanes (piano) and Elena Gonzalez Tango (voice) are an integral part of the Melbourne Tango music scene. Known for their captivating performances and commitment to the art of music, they enjoy interpreting classic Tango and Argentinian Folk music with a touch of Jazz and contemporary influences.
As Elian & Elena – EntreTango Duo they have played together in Australia for more than two years, and in 2018 they launched their first album. The trio sets out to create a unique bitter-sweet blend of the passion and melancholy of Tango and Folk with mellow Bossa Nova from Brazil.
For this special online performance from Magnet Galleries, Docklands, they are joined by guitarist, Julian Scheffer. Also performing are Jaime Wilson who will offer listeners some translations of the poetry of Tango, and Grace Amigo (Grace de las Nieves), a poet writing and living in Australia who will read some of her work in Spanish and English.
The third element in this online performance will be a virtual tour of Magnet Galleries’ current exhibition.
A concert in The Boite‘s “Adapt, not cancel” series supported by the City of Melbourne COVID-19 Arts Grants, with additional support from Creative Victoria and Australia Council for the Arts.
